    Downsizing from a 3 or 4-bed family home of many years usually means a significant reduction in possessions before move day. By the time the driver arrives, the kept items often fit a large van or sometimes a medium. The volume of a long-term family home is no longer what's being transported.

    Multi-stop bookings are common on these moves. Some items go to charity shops, some to storage for later decisions, and the main load goes to the new home. A single driver works through all the addresses in order, one booking. Beds, wardrobes and dining furniture often need dismantling at the family home and rebuilding at the new property. The bookings work the same way as any other move. Access notes are the part that varies.

    Can family members book a move on behalf of an elderly relative?

    Yes. The booker doesn't need to be the person being moved. Put the elderly relative's address as the pickup and their phone as the on-day contact, then your own contact details for confirmations and payment. The driver coordinates with the relative directly on the day.

    Do you help with decluttering or sorting before the move?

    No — TVMC drivers handle the physical move (loading, transport, unloading). Sorting, decluttering, estate agent liaison and the wider senior move management package aren't services we provide. Many customers pair a TVMC booking with a specialist downsizing service or family handling the sorting.

    Can you move someone into a retirement village, sheltered housing or care home?

    Yes. These destinations are part of the regular job mix. Flag any parking restrictions, loading bay rules or delivery time windows in the booking notes so the driver plans around them.

    Can you drop items at charity shops on the way?

    Yes. Multi-stop bookings cover this. Set the charity shop or other drop-off points as separate addresses alongside the main destination and the driver works through them in order.

    Are the drivers patient with elderly people who need extra time?

    Drivers on the platform are independent operators with their own working styles. The drivers who regularly take senior moves are usually happy to work at a slower pace — flag the requirement in the booking notes and the right driver will accept the job.

    What happens to items that need temporary storage?

    Multi-stop bookings can drop items at a storage unit alongside the main move. Useful when the new property is smaller than the old one and decisions on some possessions haven't been finalised.

    Can we book unloading-only if someone has driven the items separately?

    How does payment work?

    20% deposit to secure the booking when you confirm, the remaining balance is settled on the day of the move.
