What is The Van Man Co (TVMC)?
TVMC is a UK-wide network of trusted man-and-van operators. We connect customers with local drivers for moves, deliveries and light haulage, using our instant quote and booking system.
What services do you offer?
We handle house moves, furniture transport, student moves, office relocations and single-item deliveries. Vans range from medium to extra-large, with optional helpers available.
Bookings
How does your booking process work?
Simply enter your pickup and drop-off postcodes into our calculator. You’ll get a live price and list of nearby drivers. Once you’ve selected a van size and a driver, send through your booking request and expect a speedy response from your driver.
Once your driver confirms the booking, you’ll get an instant booking confirmation with all the details of the job.
How do you match me with a driver?
Our system ranks drivers by proximity to your pickup point and van size suitability. You can select your preferred driver directly from the results.
Can I request a specific driver again?
Absolutely — each driver has a permanent profile ID and bookings page. You can revisit their page to rebook with them or find them directly through our main form.
Payments
How is a pricing estimate calculated?
Prices are based on overall route distance, loading/unloading time, van size and whether or not a helper is requested (for two man jobs).
We offer transparent pricing that is calculated via our bookings form before a desposit payment is made.
When do I pay?
You pay a 20% deposit securely through Stripe when you confirm. The remaining 80% is paid to your driver via cash or bank transfer on completion
Are there any hidden fees?
No — all route-time, van size, and helper costs are displayed upfront.
What if my job takes longer than expected?
If you enter 30 minutes loading/unloading in the booking request and it takes 60 minutes on the day – the driver will charge the additional 30 minutes at their quoted hourly rated.

We operate across the UK — including Bristol, Bath, London, Manchester and hundreds of suburbs nationwide. Just type your postcode to check availability.

What if I need help with my booking?
You can reach out to your driver directly after paying your deposit, or contact our support team anytime through the website.
House Removals
Do you help move furniture from flats or apartments with no lift?
Yes — our drivers can cover properties with stair-only access. If you’re on an upper floor, booking a two-man or three-man team is necessary for safe, efficient handling.
Can you dismantle and reassemble furniture on moving day?
We are happy to assist with both dismantling and reassembly. Most standard household items can be dismantled and put back together, such as beds, tables, and wardrobes. Just let your driver know in advance through the booking form.
How do I choose between a two-man, or three-man team?
If you are unsure which removalist package to select, we are happy to provide guidance relevant to your specific circumstances by phone or email.
Do your movers provide protective blankets and straps?
Yes — every van comes equipped with blankets, straps, and securing gear to keep your belongings safe in transit.
Can your team help with packing or wrapping items?
Light packing and wrapping assistance can be provided on the day, as long as it falls within the booked period.
If you require us to provide packaging items such as boxes and bubble wrap, we need to know this in advance of the booking day.
What happens if my move takes longer than the time I’ve booked?
A Half Day booking covers up to 4 hours, and a Full Day booking covers up to 8 hours. If your move runs over the allocated time, additional hours are simply charged at the standard overtime rate: £90 per hour for a two-man team or £120 per hour for a three-man team.
Do you move fragile or high-value items like TVs, mirrors, or glass furniture?
Yes. As long as these items are packed or boxed securely, our teams can move them safely. We can also help with wrapping if noted in your booking.
Do you offer long-distance house removals between cities?
Yes. Our two-man and three-man teams can cover both local and long-distance moves anywhere across the UK.
How should I prepare for the moving day?
Preparing ahead of time makes your move faster, smoother, and more cost-effective. We recommend that you:
Pack and box your items securely — using strong boxes, tape, and protective wrapping for fragile belongings.
Label each box clearly — noting the room it belongs to and whether it contains fragile items.
Disassemble any large furniture you’re able to, unless you’ve arranged for our team to do this on the day.
Keep pathways clear inside your home so the team can move items safely.
Reserve parking or block off space outside your property the evening before. You can do this by parking your own car outside your home, placing bins strategically, or checking if local permits are required.
Let your neighbours know if access might be tight or if the van will need space on the road.
Good preparation helps your two- or three-man team load quickly and ensures your booked time is used efficiently.
